Mango-Kiwi Smoothie

mango smoothieThis yummy smoothie came about because my 16 year old is supposed to be writing a paper for school.  I forced him to sit at the kitchen table sans electronics and distractions.  Yet he ingeniously found a way: look at what we have in the fruit bowl (mangoes and kiwis) and not only suggest a recipe, but volunteer to run out to the store to get the other ingredients needed!  Gee thanks, T-boy!  The smoothies are great – but you still aren’t getting up until your paper is done!


Mango-Kiwi Smoothies

2 mangoes, peeled chopped into pieces, pit in the trash

2 kiwis, peeled and chopped

1 banana, sliced up

1/2 pint of any frozen, low fat vanilla yogurt (we used Haagen Das, ‘cuz they sell it in the bodega on the corner)

1 tablespoon of honey

1/2 cup of apple juice

a bunch of ice cubes (at least one cup)

Combine all ingredients in blender, blend till smooth.  Pour into fancy glasses and add straws.  Yum!
